AK0060 Capping Machine General Description
The capping machine is primarily for Screw Capping. It can also be adaptable for Press and ROPP cap closures. The machine has an output capability of 50 – 60 per minute under optimum conditions. It has accurate and smooth container handling. The machine uses a 9” colour HMI Touchscreen, with programmable recipes. The machine is suitable for a wide range of cap and container sizes. Screw Caps are applied with accurate servo controlled torque.
AK0060 Index Screw Capping Machine
As a screw capper, the AK0060 is a single head, indexing, screw capping machine. Applying caps at up to 50 – 60 per minute. This will be dependent on cap and container characteristics. The machine can be configurable to 6 or 12 indexes.
Caps are automatically correctly orientated by the vibratory bowl feeder via dedicated cap tooling inserts. The caps are then fed through a turnover change part assembly, and onto the cap feed belt arrangement.
The caps travel along the cap belt, and are then located, at the end of the cap belt arrangement, in a cap specific transfer plate. Hence, smooth transfer of the cap towards the capping chuck is achieved by this transfer plate.
When the machine cycles, the transfer plate sequences backwards. Consequently collecting a waiting cap, and then sequence forwards. Resulting with the cap being positioned, beneath the capping chuck.
The capping chuck then descends, to pick the cap up, at a recipe entered height position. Following this, the transfer plate sequences backwards, and clear of the capping position. As a result, this then enables the capping chuck to descend, towards the waiting container beneath. Therefore, the cap is fully screwed onto the container, with accurate servo torque control.
In parallel, containers feed into the capping machine, by travelling along a guided slat conveyor. They are then indexed into the capping machine, via the container specific starwheel arrangement. Thus, this accurately positions the containers beneath the capping position.
While conveyor guide rails, support the containers whilst they travel along the slat conveyor. It is container specific change part back-plates that provide a guide for the containers. As they are indexed through the machine, by the star-wheel arrangement.
A container specific, pneumatically operated clamp, locates and holds each container, at the capping position, preventing it from turning.
Once screw capping has been completed.
Finally, after capping, the containers are then indexed, and they feed onto the outfeed conveyor and hence, on to the next packaging operation.
Machine is operated by the user, via the 9” HMI colour touchscreen interface.
Control of the machine sequences is via the software program. Specific movements and timings are controlled via the recipe programs, for each size of cap and container. The machine and its functions feature typical auto fault conditions and restarts, plus alarms. At a glance, an illuminated beacon indicates the operating status of the machine.
